Indie/RnB group, Easy Life, released their latest single ‘Skeletons’, from their upcoming album ‘Life’s a Beach.’ In an interview with Dork, frontman, Murray Matravers, explains how the song “plays with the idea of a slightly mysterious and potentially terrifying past.”
Easy Life have a talent for producing incredibly danceable tracks no matter the subject matter. Even when delving into slightly darker content, they maintain their signature catchy hooks and foot-tapping beats. Their combination of elements from Indie, Pop, Hip-Hop and RnB is masterfully done throughout their discography, but this single in particular captures a feeling reminiscent of a lazy summer’s day, drinking tinnies in a park with your mates.
Each musical element, from their pulsating arpeggiators, dreamy synths and booming kick drum, make it impossible not to groove and join in on the repetitive ‘skeletons’ heard from the backing vocals. Their entire chorus is focused on that singular word, and each time you hear it, different voices are heard – almost like the baggage in your past, or the skeletons in your closet, are making themselves heard. This refreshing take on backing vocals kept my ears pricked and is a moment we cannot wait to hear live – we can almost hear the drunk screams of ‘Skeletons’ in the festival crowds!
Easy Life have proved time and time again that their music is born to break airwaves, pumping feel good energy through stereos; the perfect soundtrack to your summer, and this recent release is no exception. With this single and the previous releases from their album, I am anticipating the rest of their album eagerly – get your summer playlists ready.
‘Life’s a Beach’ is due to be released 4th June, and tickets for their November 2021 UK Tour are available now.
